The UN Building |
Skanska signed a contract to renovate the general assembly
hall in the United Nations headquarters in New York.
The new contract award follows Skanska’s appointment by
United Nations in 2007 to serve as the construction manager for the capital
master plan for renovation and upgrading of the headquarters.
Work on the new US$65m (£42.8m) contract is due for completion in August 2014. Skanska will
replace and upgrade all mechanical and electrical equipment and control
systems, remove all hazardous materials from the headquarters, reconfigure
spaces for new uses, restore existing room materials and furniture to like-new
condition and install conferencing systems
